Spring Cleaning? This Massachusetts Animal Shelter Turns Used Books Into Second Chances
The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts in Brockton is asking the community to donate gently used books, puzzles, and games to support animals.
The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts in Brockton is asking the community to donate gently used books, puzzles, and games to support animals in its care, with collections underway now for the shelter’s annual book sale from April 10th to April 12th. In a recent announcement, the organization urged residents doing seasonal cleanouts to participate, saying, “Spring Cleaning? Put those old books to good use!” and reminding donors, “Don’t toss those books—donate them to APCSM!”
The donations will help fund the shelter’s work, with proceeds from the sale going directly back to animal care. “We are collecting donations for our ANNUAL BOOK SALE happening April 10, 11 & 12 to support the animals at the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts,” the organization said, adding that “Your gently used books can help raise funds for the animals in our care.”
APCSM says it is accepting adult and children’s books (in good, readable condition), along with puzzles and board games, and the group also lists CDs and DVDs among accepted items. Donations can be dropped off daily at the shelter, located at 1300 West Elm St Ext., Brockton, Massachusetts 02301. “Donations can be left in front of the shelter daily between 9 AM – 5 PM,” the organization said.
The shelter also emphasized limits on what it can use. “Please do NOT donate: Textbooks” or “Encyclopedia sets,” APCSM said, noting that all donated items should be in good condition. The organization closed its appeal with a message of gratitude and purpose: “Thank you for helping us turn spring cleaning into second chances!”
