The local nonprofit rescue explains that this resilient 8 to 10-year-old terrier mix has overcome many challenges in her life and is now searching for her forever family. Despite her small stature at just 8.5 pounds, Helen possesses the heart of a fighter and maintains the playful spirit of a puppy.
"Helen’s story began in heartbreak—she was abandoned at a shelter in terrible condition and suffering from deadly pyometra," explains Sandy Paws Rescue. Thanks to the dedication and care of her rescuers, she has made a remarkable recovery and is ready to start the next chapter of her life with a loving family.
Despite her senior status, Helen's personality shines through in everything she does. "She may be a senior lady but she still has plenty of pep in her step—and those little ears bounce with every step she takes," states Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. "She is sure to be the talk of your neighborhood as she goes for her daily walks!" They also note that Helen delights in being held and shows her playful side with toys. Helen has proven to be mostly housebroken and gets along well with other dogs, though she hasn't yet had the opportunity to meet cats or young children.
