Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a foster-based rescue organization in Massachusetts, has recently introduced an adorable 6-month-old Boerboel Mastiff puppy named Sammi Sweetheart, affectionately known as Sam. This energetic and friendly pup is on a quest to find her forever home.
Sam, along with her four siblings, was rescued from a breeder under unfortunate circumstances. Despite this early setback, the rescue emphasizes that Sam has not been exposed to any trauma. In fact, Sandy Paws Rescue notes that she has already made impressive progress with socialization and basic training, setting a strong foundation for her future.
Originating from South Africa, Boerboel Mastiffs are renowned for their loyalty, strength, and unwavering devotion to their families. Sandy Paws Rescue explains that these gentle giants were originally bred to guard farms and livestock, making them natural protectors. Despite their imposing size, Boerboels are surprisingly agile and gentle, qualities that make them excellent family companions when properly trained and socialized.
At just six months old, Sam is brimming with playful energy and curiosity. Her friendly disposition extends to both people and other dogs, making her a social butterfly. “Her strong protective instincts will also develop as she grows, so she’ll need a family that is experienced with large breeds and is committed to consistent training,” explains Sandy Paws Rescue.
The ideal family for Sam will be committed to consistent training and socialization. Her natural protective instincts, combined with proper guidance, will make her a loyal and devoted companion. Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. is specifically looking for adopters with large or working breed experience. This requirement ensures that Sam's new family will be well-equipped to handle her unique needs and continue her training effectively.
Currently, Sam is located in Texas but can be transported to Massachusetts as soon as this week. She is also up-to-date with her vaccines and is spayed. Now all Sam needs is someone to take a chance on her and give her the loving home she deserves.
Sandy Paws Rescue is a nonprofit rescue in Massachusetts that works to save dogs and give them a second chance by finding them their forever home. Sandy Paws Rescue explains that they "rescue dogs from various shelters, cruelty situations, owner surrenders in Massachusetts, and strays from Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida." They don't have a shelter location therefore all of their dogs wait to find their forever homes while fostered in private foster homes or kennels.
Sandy Paws Rescue is a "100% volunteer-only operation," with most of their volunteers having full-time day jobs in addition to the work they do for the rescue. They explain "our only personal gain, is from seeing our dogs placed in wonderful homes." Sandy Paws Rescue operates and is only able to exist due to donations made to the nonprofit rescue. From transporting them from one state to another, to paying all medical bills, food, and more- running a dog rescue is expensive. "Our adoption fees do not cover the amount that we spend on our puppies/dogs to vet and transport them," explains Sandy Paws Rescue.
Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. requires that anyone interested in adopting must submit an application to them. As a foster-based rescue based in Massachusetts, they don’t have a shelter location, and visits with dogs are by appointment only. Their dogs reside in private homes or kennels until adoption. Please note that at this time, Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. is only adopting to those living in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and some areas in Connecticut. Sandy Paws Rescue adopts to other New England states on a case-by-case basis. For more information on how to adopt from Sandy Paws Inc., visit their website at https://www.sandypawsmv.com.
