Despite bearing physical scars from her past, Buttercup's spirit remains unbroken, and she approaches life with remarkable resilience and joy.
Well-trained and adaptable, Sandy Paws Rescue explains that Buttercup has mastered basic house manners, including crate training and leash walking. She demonstrates excellent behavior during car rides and maintains proper house training when given regular outdoor access. Her playful demeanor makes her an ideal companion for active families, though her energetic nature might be overwhelming for senior dogs.
While Buttercup shows curiosity toward cats and can be redirected, her true passion lies in social interaction. Though she hasn't lived with children, she exhibits genuine enthusiasm when encountering neighborhood kids, suggesting she could thrive in a family environment. Sandy Paws Rescue, who is helping Buttercup find a home up north, explains that her foster family, currently in Texas, dreams of finding her a home where she can experience adventures, particularly hiking, and receive the unconditional love she so readily gives to others.
Buttercup is currently living in Texas until her forever family finds her and Sandy Paws Rescue will have her transported to Massachusetts. Sandy Paws Rescue is a nonprofit rescue in Massachusetts that works to save dogs like Buttercup and give them a second chance by finding them their forever home. Sandy Paws Rescue explains that they "rescue dogs from various shelters, cruelty situations, owner surrenders in Massachusetts, and strays from Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida." They don't have a shelter location therefore all of their dogs wait to find their forever homes while fostered in private foster homes or kennels.
Sandy Paws Rescue is a "100% volunteer-only operation," with most of their volunteers having full-time day jobs in addition to the work they do for the rescue. They explain "our only personal gain, is from seeing our dogs placed in wonderful homes." Sandy Paws Rescue operates and is only able to exist due to donations made to the nonprofit rescue. From transporting them from one state to another, to paying all medical bills, food, and more- running a dog rescue is expensive. "Our adoption fees do not cover the amount that we spend on our puppies/dogs to vet and transport them," explains Sandy Paws Rescue.
Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. requires that anyone interested in adopting must submit an application to them. As a foster-based rescue based in Massachusetts, they don’t have a shelter location, and visits with dogs are by appointment only. Their dogs reside in private homes or kennels until adoption.
