Local Rescue Introduces Sweet & Smart Puppy Seeking Her Forever Family
With her loving personality and quick learning abilities, Pesto promises to be a wonderful addition to the right family.
Sandy Paws Rescue, a dedicated foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts, recently introduced a three-month-old puppy named Pesto who is searching for her forever family. This adorable St. Bernard/Akita mix is already making a big impression, weighing in at over 30 pounds at just three months old. With her mixed heritage of working breeds, Pesto promises to grow into an extra-large adult dog with a personality to match.
Pesto has proven to be incredibly adaptable and social. Sandy Paws Rescue explains that she gets along well with other dogs, cats, and children, making her an excellent candidate for various family situations. Her foster family reports that she's not just friendly but also quite intelligent, quickly picking up basic commands and already responding to her name. One of her earliest achievements is mastering the "paw" command, showing both her intelligence and eagerness to please.
Pesto has adapted well to home life, showing excellent progress with crate training and sleeping through the night. While she has a healthy appetite, she shows little interest in treats, preferring her regular meals. Her playful nature shines through in her choice of toys, with cardboard, plastic water bottles, and a spiked ball being her favorites. One of her most endearing quirks is her fascination with her own reflection in glass surfaces, and she shows an amusing interest in television, which has been one of the few things to provoke her to bark.
Sandy Paws Rescue is specifically looking for adopters with working breed experience who can provide the structure and guidance this smart, energetic puppy needs. With her loving personality and quick learning abilities, Pesto promises to be a wonderful addition to the right family.
Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., based in Massachusetts, is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to giving dogs a second chance at life through their foster-based rescue program. Their mission extends across multiple states, rescuing dogs from shelters, abuse situations, and owner surrenders in Massachusetts, while also helping strays from Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Without a physical shelter facility, their rescued dogs are cared for in loving foster homes and kennels while awaiting adoption.

Their motivation comes purely from the joy of matching dogs with loving forever homes. As a nonprofit dependent on donations, Sandy Paws Rescue faces significant expenses in their mission, including transportation costs, veterinary care, and daily necessities for their rescued dogs. The adoption fees they collect only partially cover these extensive costs, making community support crucial for their continued operation.
