The JFK Hyannis Museum is set to host a lineup of authors for their 2025 Summer Author Series, offering visitors a deeper glimpse into the Kennedy family's enduring legacy on Cape Cod. Beginning in July and extending through early September, the series will feature three writers presenting works that explore different facets of Kennedy history and influence. Each event combines literary discussion with book signings, allowing attendees to engage directly with the authors.
"This summer, we're bringing history, storytelling, and engaging conversations to Cape Cod! Meet acclaimed authors, hear behind-the-scenes stories of the Kennedys, and get your favorite books signed." - JFK Hyannis Museum
Kate Storey will kick off the series on July 29th with her book "White House by the Sea," an in-depth examination of the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port that served as both a family retreat and an informal extension of the administration during JFK's presidency. The storied summer home has long captured public imagination as the setting for both political strategy sessions and intimate family gatherings.
Following in September, historian Dr. Leigh Straw will present "The Kennedys at Cape Cod, 1944," focusing on a significant year that marked both wartime challenges and pivotal developments for the family's political aspirations. Later that same week, Natalie Dykstra rounds out the series with "Chasing Beauty," offering perspectives on “beauty, legacy, and the captivating stories” within the Kennedy narrative.
Museum officials note that attendance at these author events is included with regular museum admission, making them accessible additions to the visitor experience. For Cape Cod residents and summer visitors alike, the author series provides a culturally enriching opportunity to explore American history in the very location where much of it unfolded.
