With the bitter cold of winter just around the corner, it is important to take the time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors while you still can. And just as important, is giving your four-legged family members as many outings as possible before chilling winds and feet of snow keep them stuck inside as well. One perfect way to accomplish both these things is by visiting your local dog park! Luckily, Massachusetts has plenty of options to do just that. Read on for information on five local dog parks that will be sure to get your pup's tail wagging this fall!
5) Marshfield Dog Park (Marshfield)
The Marshfield Dog Park is finally open after tireless fundraising from the non-profit, The Friends of the Marshfield Dog Park, since 2018. According to their Facebook, the non-profit is "Committed to creating a dedicated outdoor space for dogs and dog lovers in Marshfield, Massachusetts."
In order to provide a safe and fun experience for dogs of all shapes and sizes, the Marshfield Dog Park features separate areas for small and large dogs. These two sectors are divided by a 12-foot high fence. The entrances to each area have a double entry gate for added safety. Both areas include a watering station for pups as well as a dog waste bag station.

4) Scituate Dog Park (Scituate)
Similar to number five on the list, this dog park was only made possible after intense fundraising efforts from the non-profit, Friends of Scituate Dog Park.
The Scituate Dog Park is a one-acre enclosed area that welcomes dogs of all sizes. Some of its features include level pathways, "beautifully crafted benches", and areas of shade to escape the sun. In addition, the park includes two dog waste bag dispensers located at the entrance and far end.

3) South Field Dog Park (Weymouth)
If you and your pup are looking for a dog park with some unique enrichment opportunities, the South Field Dog Park may be just the thing you're looking for. The park consists of two fenced-in sections so medium-sized and large dogs can have their own area.
In addition to typical picnic tables and waste receptacles, this dog park offers recreation for your dog in the form of wooden ramps and climbing structures. Just make sure your pup is playing safely as they train for America Ninja Canine!

2) Abington Dog Park (Abington)
The Abington Dog Park opened in 2019 and is operated by the volunteer-run nonprofit Friends of Abington Dog Park (I'm seeing a theme here).
This park also features separate areas for big and small dogs and has fun hydrant-shaped dog fountains which are operational from mid-April to mid-November. The park is open during daylight hours all year. However, since it is not shoveled during winter, you may want to take advantage of it before the snow falls. If your pup enjoys romping in the snow, just make sure they don't get lost in the drifts!
WHERE: 441 Summer St, Abington, MA 02351
